Be Not Afraid

During the hustle of getting dinner on the table one August day in 2001 in Virginia, my Aunt Mary was following us, “the kids” around, handing each of us this little tribute to “HOPE”.   As usual, I thought she was funny….doing something that was a little out of the ordinary.  I admired her for that.   She wrote all of these out individually, decorated them with a little color, added her initials, and wouldn’t take “no thanks” for an answer.   We didn’t even try to decline this special handmade gift.

So, I politely took it from her and brought it home.

Three weeks later, 9/11 happened.  Her message for Hope was now crystal clear.  I covered the message in clear contact paper, and hung it on the fridge.  It’s been there for 11 years.

It’s a constant reminder of the Supernatural Virtue of HOPE; and a very special Aunt.
